WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF OUR DENTAL
LABORATORY OF ORTHODONTICS AND REMOVABLE PROSTHESIS
Bionator is
one of the most demanded functional appliances in an orthodontic
laboratory. It is possible that the fundamental cause of this fact is the
simplicity of its structure and the comfort of its use for the patient. It
was designed by Balters in 1960, who
attributed to the language a causal role of the first order in the cause of
malocclusions.
The bionator
is actually much less bulky than the activator. The part that covers the
anterior section of the palate, which is contiguous with the tongue, is
missing. For this reason children can speak normally as soon as they start
to use it, even if the device is loose in the mouth, this makes it possible to
use the device day and night, except during meals. An important aspect of
the bionator is its freedom of movement in the oral cavity.
Uses
of the Bionator Functional Apparatus
The bionator
is a device developed to align the arch, its main objective is to correct
a skeletal class II malocclusion and
turn it into a class I molar relationship, increasing the vertical dimension,
bringing the jaw down and forward, correcting the overbite and relieving a
possible compression of the TMJ.
You can
expand moderately narrow arches and correct protruding upper incisors by
rotating the premaxilla downward and distally, thus correcting excessive
protrusion problems.
It is also
used to buccalize lower anterior teeth that have been lingualized in the lower
arches. In the vestibular area, it serves to eliminate the subvestibular
sulcus and release the retruded lower lip and the tension of the orbicularis
oculi muscle. It helps the patient obtain a correct lip seal and correct
incorrect upper and lower lip relationships.
It is also
capable of eliminating serious periodontal and mucous damage on the palate and
gingiva caused by excessive deep overbite problems. By correcting severe
mandibular retruction, it also corrects the malposition of the tongue and
consequently the resulting atypical swallowing pattern. Acting as a
display device, it also prevents the tongue from imposing on the occlusal
surfaces of the posterior teeth, thus achieving correction of vertical problems
and helping to achieve the correct occlusal plane.
These
appliances bring the tongue back to its correct position against the soft
palate, eliminate lingual suction during swallowing, and help keep the tongue
in more correct and proper function. They also work very successfully in
eliminating the sucking habit in children who complicate their malocclusion by
habitually sucking various combinations of fingers and thumbs.
In the
catalog of our orthodontic laboratory you can find the Bionator and we are at
your disposal to attend to the different variants that this functional
appliance may present.
